Julie Cox Root, AIA

Senior Project Manager

Julie has more than 36 years of experience in architecture and project management, successfully delivering more than $2B in projects throughout Los Angeles and beyond. A community builder in both the sense of place and the design of buildings, she has been involved in organizing the design and technical coordination of numerous educational, civic, government, commercial, non-profit, and urban design projects. She has strong expertise in the technical design integration of sustainable strategies with design aesthetics, and her focus is on executing quality building projects.

Julie is a facilitator who excels at driving decisions to meet the client goals throughout the design process. Her extensive background spans roles as project manager, client relationship manager, architect, and technical lead -- often at the regional level, to support a nationwide portfolio. Julie enjoys exploring a client's overall mission to understand how each project aligns with and contributes to their broader business goals. Her project management experience includes a strong focus on financial performance which underpins the way she delivers work and ensures the quality execution of integrated building systems from concept through construction.

Julie's leadership strength lies in proactively facilitating communication among diverse stakeholders and clearly articulating actions that enable clients to make informed decisions. She leads with a hands-on approach, staying deeply engaged with the process, and adaptable to evolving circumstances.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Mississippi State University. She has been a licensed architect in California since 1996. She enjoys volunteering with the American Institute of Architects and local mutual aid community organizations in Pasadena. Outside of work and volunteering, Julie enjoys extensive travel with her husband and practices mixed-media art.
